New Holland has presented its new CR series rotor combine and CX5 and CX6 series tedder machines to dealers. This further refines the largest combine in their line-up: the CR10.90. This combine holds the wheat threshing world record.
It still takes more than 5 months, but manufacturers are already busy preparing for Agritechnica 2017 in Hanover. There you can see New Holland's new CR and CX combinations. The brand is already introducing it to dealers in France. The new top model is of course impressive, but the smaller models have also been renewed.
Even more power
A French dealer placed on Facebook some photos of the new CR10.90, New Holland's flagship, which will be available next year. You immediately recognize the 2018 model by its changed styling. There is slightly more yellow paint visible and just less black paint. This is also the case behind the hoods. This should make maintenance easier. Cab, grain tank and SmartTrax track undercarriage remained the same.
However, in the photos, the machine is on hefty Mitas 710 rear tires. The FPT Course 16 diesel engine now does not deliver 653, but a maximum of 700 hp. A conventional 12,5 meter header hangs in front of it. Combine with this model achieved New Holland set the Guinness World Record wheat threshing in 2014. The brand remains undefeated for the time being. Then there was an even wider header of 13,7 meters in front.
Threshing system improves
New Holland is working on the development of the various components. A list of the improvements can already be found on the internet. The crop flow through the machine is more efficient, which saves power. Electronic gadgets make it easier for the driver. If the threshing system chokes, the machine automatically widens the threshing jacket around the rotor. When the blockage is cleared, the adjustment returns to the old value. The Twin Rotor threshing system has also been modified. This makes it easier to adjust the rotor blades. It's called Twin Pitch Plus.
Chopping wider
The Opti-Spread chopper has also been modified. More airflow ensures that the straw is better spread over a 12,5 meter working width. The chaff spreader has also been modified. The controls are the same in the cabin. The software on the Intelliview terminal has been updated. The new CR series will be available from 2018 onwards. The model numbers remain the same.
Update CX5 and CX6
Such a threshing monster is not immediately interesting for the Netherlands. Many CR machines are not on the road in the Benelux. The updated CX5000 and CX6000 Evolution, which will go through life as CX5 and CX6 from next year, are more manageable for our arable farmers and contractors. Most striking is the new cab with LED lighting. You now enjoy the same comfort as on the CR and the large CX. The cabin has a luxurious seat with Intelliview 4 terminal and optional factory Intellisteer GPS.
You can also see up to 3 cameras on the screen. Maintenance is simplified. The machine has automatic cleaning and automatic lubrication on the variator. The number of grease nipples has been reduced from 32 to 20. The threshing system has also been changed on a number of points. For example, the demounting drum has been given adjustable elements.
Renew manufacturers
Chances are, Case IH will follow suit with an update on their Axial-Flow. The CR has many similar components, although the threshing system is completely different. Earlier, for model year 2018, John Deere launched their new S700 rotor combinations. For example, manufacturers continue to renew their combine harvesters and with the Agritechnica on the way, everything is just that little bit faster.
