AVR's Puma bunker harvester has been on the market since 2006. In Kortrijk it shows number 333, which recently rolled off the line. In 2015, the counter was still at 200. The focus on a self-propelled vehicle with 4 (instead of 2) rows has proven itself. Not only in terms of capacity, but also in terms of costs per operating hours, fuel consumption and maintenance.
The use of diquat (Reglone) for haulm killing is finite. An alternative is haulm pulling and root cutting. The Frisian Rema delivered the first EnvimaxX pulling and cutting machines this year. Production will start on a much larger scale this winter. The interest is great. Still, co-inventor Piet Regnerus notes that many (seed) potato growers are not well aware of the challenge surrounding haulm killing.
For the Belgian market, Ploeger now builds extra support wheels on its harvesters as standard. These are necessary to comply with the Belgian traffic law. The machine is now officially approved.
At the Potato Demo Day in Westmaas, AVR launched their completely new Lynx wagon harvester that harvests in absentia. He also attracts attention at Interpom. Reactions from the market are positive, says the manufacturer from Roeselare. A steady group of arable farmers stay with the harvester, mainly in France.
The SC 300 hook cultivator for front or rear attachment is new at Dewulf. A 65 centimeter tiller shaft, wear-resistant tiller hooks, drive train up to 250 hp and adjustable insert noses should make the machine attractive and unique.
At the beginning of November, the German company Zasso announced that it would start working with CNH Industrial. Three weeks later, the electric weed killer can already be seen in combination with a New Holland. In addition to glyphosate replacement, it is also being examined whether haulm killing with the machine is feasible by means of electrocution.
The RevolutionAir is a new EC fan from Tolsma. New fan blades provide more airflow with less noise and power. The fan no longer contains any fault-prone electronics. The cooling technology also fits in existing storage sheds because the dimensions are identical. The Vision Control storage computer can control it.
In addition to crates, VHM Machinery can now also fill big bags with potatoes or onions. A specific filler provides more capacity. Up to 25 bags can be filled per hour. Each bag must be hung under the machine manually. The storage bunker weighs very accurately.
In addition to a line of Cappon implements under the VSS name and color, the company is also showing a new 2-row stock harvester: VRA-1500. This one has been given a set of wheels and is specifically intended for potatoes.
During the previous edition there was a lot of development in the field of transfer technology. Manufacturers were also present with concepts, but mainly refined their existing machines. In the Netherlands, use is increasing slowly, but more so for sugar beets than potatoes. Contractors find it difficult to use such expensive machines profitably. Not every customer is willing to pay extra for it.
