A number of participating livestock farmers from the Boerenbusiness Roughage Tour is busy feeding the cows fresh grass, one farmer has already sown his maize and another is planning to mow his lawns.
The grass on the plots in Nieuwerkerk (Zeeland) now has a length of 24 to 30 centimeters. With good weather forecast, the farmer has decided to mow the plots on Thursday 23 April and to ensile two days later.

The nice weather and higher temperature is also favorable for sowing the maize, this already happened on 20 April in Udenhout (North Brabant). The operations that were necessary for sowing were done in quick succession and immediately before sowing to keep as much moisture in the soil as possible.
Mowing and watering
The plots in Zeewolde (Flevoland) and Overloon (North Brabant) are mowed in order to be able to feed fresh grass to the cows. In order to be able to continue feeding fresh grass, these two farmers irrigate their plots in order to maintain growth.
