The Innovators on the Gewastour plot in Marknesse (Noordoostpolder) are developing very well so far. The first flower buds are already in it. The potatoes went into the ground on the 7,2 hectare plot at the end of April.
The soil type on the plot in Marknesse is sea sand (8% silt) and has an organic matter content of 2%. Before the potatoes were there, fodder radish used to be green manure. 35 cubic meters of cattle slurry per hectare has been applied.
In mid-March, a basic fertilization of 135 kilos of nitrogen per hectare was given. The main tillage was plowed on 15 April. The potatoes were then planted on April 29 with a cup planter. The seed potatoes were size 35/50. A few days later the ridges were milled.
