On the plot in Fijnaart it is dry, very dry even. In the month of June, there has been only 3,9 millimeters of rain so far.
It has end of May it still rained a lot on the plot, but in June only 3,9 millimeters fell in total. Since then it has been very dry; yet the seed potatoes (size 50/60) can withstand the drought well for the time being.
Advantage of late legs
The crop does not evaporate much moisture, which is an advantage of the late planting (May 9). The soil (light small soil) is appropriate and so far no hair roots have died.
Although it is dry, there is no urgency to irrigate for the time being. If irrigation does take place, then this can be done with surface water. In addition, 6 to 8 stems and 10 to 12 tubers were counted per plant.
