Drought gives way to rain

After the month of August started dry, some rain fell around August 9. On which parcels of the Boerenbusiness Croptour has received the most rain and where have the temperatures been highest in recent days?

There is a big split in the weather of the past 2 weeks. In the first 8 days of August, the average temperature on all plots of the Crop Tour exceeded 20 degrees Celsius, while not a single day was successful after 9 August. The highest temperature recorded in the period after August 9 was 19,1 degrees Celsius.

On the plots in Fijnaart, Hank and Bocholtz an average temperature above 7 degrees Celsius was measured on August 25. This day was by far the hottest day in the first 2 weeks of August. The average temperature over all plots on that day was 24,7 degrees Celsius. The highest average temperature was measured on the plot in Escharen.

Most precipitation in North Holland
The potato plot with Innovators in Middenmeer received the most precipitation (over 65 millimeters). Opposite this is the plot in Bocholtz, which received the least precipitation (25 millimeters). The plot in Scharendijke, which is the only one that cannot be irrigated, received more than 45 millimeters of rain.

The plots in the Johannes Kerkhovenpolder, Biddinghuizen and Fijnaart have been irrigated once in the past period, while in Escharen it has been irrigated twice. The table below shows how much precipitation fell on the plots of the in the month of August Boerenbusiness Crop tour.

High maximum temperatures in the south
At the beginning of August, all fields of the Crop Tour reached high temperatures. On August 7, a maximum temperature of above 30 degrees Celsius was measured on all plots. Into the potato plot Bocholtz has shown the highest maximum temperature, because there the temperature rose above 5 degrees Celsius for 30 days. 

During the first 16 days of August, the maximum temperature on the plots in Escharen and Bocholtz rose above 10 degrees Celsius for 25 days. Maximum temperatures were lowest on August 11. On the plots in spike, Middenmeer, the Johannes Kerkhovenpolder and Marknesse the temperature did not exceed 20 degrees Celsius at that time. 

On August 11, the average temperature of all plots was 15,75 degrees Celsius. That is by far the coolest day in more than 1,5 months.
