Many considerations are made when determining the correct sowing time; for example, the accessibility and the conditions for laying the seedbed play a role.
Although there is sufficient equipment available to measure the conditions in the ground, not everything can yet be measured. In many cases, the moment of sowing is not determined by hard figures from measurements, but by knowledge and wisdom.
The seedbed must be closed after tillage, with sufficient moisture prevents clod formation. There must also be enough moisture in the soil for germination. The depth of sowing plays a major role in this.
Tollebeek
Into the 'clay plot' Tollebeek (Flevoland) is expected to be sown at the beginning of April. This crop tour plot was plowed in the autumn of 2018, is in good condition and there are no large puddles on the land. The seedbed is prepared with a 3-beam vibrating tine, with a pressure roller at the front and a power harrow at the back.
