Crop tour Onions week 13

Time of sowing is approaching

25 March 2019 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

The prospects for the onion plots of the Gewastour are positive. The weather conditions are better and several plots are starting to dry out. It is therefore not unlikely that sowing can take place on a number of plots next week.

Due to the heavy rain of the past weeks, puddles formed on the plot in Zweeloo (Drenthe). This plot received almost twice as much rain this month as it did in March last year. Due to the various measures, the puddles have already disappeared.

Measures have been taken on the plot in Zweeloo to prevent puddle formation.

Plots dry out
On the onion plot in Dronten (Flevoland) it is still a question of when sowing can take place. This plot is now starting to dry out. The plot in Oeffelt (North Brabant) was hit hard at the beginning of the week, and some hail and rain are expected to fall here. However, it is expected that sowing can take place on this plot next week, weather permitting.

The north of the country has had the most rain in the past month. The plot in Kimswerd (Friesland) will therefore probably have to wait another 2 weeks for any activity.

If you want to stay informed about the activities on the plots, view the timeline at the bottom of the Crop tour page.
