The potato plots of the Boerenbusiness Crop tours show major differences, which means that expectations are also very variable. Activity is expected in the course of next week on the vast majority of the plots.
The plot in Middenmeer (North Holland) is slowly drying off, as no plowing was done here in the autumn. Soil life is getting going on this plot and there is also more activity of worms.
The plot in Scharendijke (Zeeland) is expected to be ready for plowing at the end of next week. Sowing the beets and onions will be the priority next week. If the expectations for the weather come true, planting could take place here within 2 weeks.
A first
The prospects for the plot in Escaren (North Brabant) are (very) positive. The plot was loosened with a disc harrow at the end of last week to speed up the drying process. After fertilizing, the plot still needs to be plowed. It cannot be ruled out that this plot will be the first (of all Crop Tour plots) to be planted.
This does not apply to the plot in Spijk (Groningen). The heavy rainfall of the past few weeks has caused delays here. On the other hand, the precipitation did have a positive effect on the groundwater level and the amount of soil moisture. The plots in Dronten and Ens (Flevoland) are not yet accessible for the time being.
If you want to stay informed about the activities on the plots, view the timeline at the bottom of the Crop tour page.
