Onions were sown last week on 2 plots of the Gewastour Onions. Both plots are located on loamy soil and had a windfall in terms of precipitation. The remaining plots are expected to be sown by the end of the week or early next week.
The onions were sown on the Gewastour plot in Oeffelt (North Brabant) on Monday 1 April. The plot was prepared for sowing 2 days ago, with a power harrow on the back. The onions are sown in 2 meter beds, with 8 rows; 3,8 units per hectare are sown. The early variety 'Vento' is sown on the field and the field is sprayed with herbicides immediately after sowing.
First plot
The first onion plot of the Gewastour Onions was completed on Thursday 28 March sown in Kortgene (Zeeland). After sowing, this plot was also sprayed with herbicides. The weather forecast for next week is (very) favorable for the germination of the seed.
The Crop Tour plots in Tollebeek and Zeewolde (Flevoland) cannot yet be used. Also in Kimswerd (Friesland) it remains to be seen whether the rain, which is forecast for the coming week, will not throw a spanner in the works.
In Zweeloo (Drenthe) a number of wet spots have been removed and in the coming week this plot will be fertilized by the contractor. Fertilizer has been applied in Dronten (Flevoland). If there is not too much precipitation here, sowing can still be done at the end of the week.
Add fertilizers
Timac Agro was present during the sowing on the plot in Oeffelt. The starter fertilizer Physiostart was added during sowing.
