Onion cultivation is growing rapidly in areas where few or no onions were grown a few years ago. Climate change and the availability of good varieties are the main drivers of growth in these areas.
All onion varieties from Hazera have a hardness rating of above 100 (UIKC list), making them also suitable for light soils. Onions with an average hardness (below 100) generally soften faster when grown on light soils.
These onions are also often grown on virgin soil, which benefits their health, shelf life and storage. Processors and exporters have increasing experience that onions from light soils are suitable for export to distant destinations.

Early start
In 2019 we had an early sowing start in week 8/9. Then some sowing was done, with or without priming and/or covering. In week 13, most companies have started sowing. We wish you a successful season!
