Crop tour Potatoes week 17

Planting work in Groningen is lagging behind

23 April 2019 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

The Innovators are already germinating in the south of the Netherlands, while planting still needs to be done on the plot in Groningen. Conditions on the plots that are being milled are dry, but not yet critical.

On the Crop tour plot in Scharendijk (Zeeland) there are germs of more than 1 centimeter and on the plot in Escharen (North Brabant) there are germs of approximately 0,5 centimeter. On the other hand, the plot in Spijk (Groningen) still needs to be planted, which is expected to happen next week. The plot in Goor (Overijssel) was planted on Tuesday, April 23.

Good conditions
The Innovators were planted on the potato plot in Hank (North Brabant) on Wednesday, April 17. The plot has not been prepared, so there was still sufficient moisture in the soil. This also applies to the plot in Middenmeer (North Holland), where the Innovators were planted on Thursday, April 18. The Crop Tour plots in Dronten and Ens (Flevoland) and the plot in Voorst (Gelderland) were planted on Friday, April 19.

Expected rain
In general, people look forward to the rain. The drought causes problems when planting on the plot in Goor and when filling the ridges in Scharendijke.
