All Crop Tour plots have been planted

30 April 2019 - 1 reaction

The last potatoes are currently being planted on the Crop Tour plot in Spijk (Groningen). This means that all participating plots have been planted.

Last week 9,9 millimeters of rain fell on the potato plot in Spijk. Because there were many workable days, it is expected that by the end of the week approximately 90% of the potatoes in the region will be in the ground.

Most plots have sprouted
The precipitation of the past week is measured by the participants of the Boerenbusiness Crop tour received with pleasure. Most precipitation fell on the potato plot in Ens (Flevoland), because last week 25,9 millimeters fell here.

On the plots in Hank (North Brabant) and Dronten (Flevoland) the necessary precipitation has fallen, although the ridges are still a bit too dry. Despite the dry ridges, most potatoes have already sprouted.

Due to the dry soil, herbicides have not yet been sprayed on most plots. However, this already happened on the plot in Middenmeer (North Holland) and in Fijnaart (North Brabant).

Scharendijke (Zeeland) has sprayed 3 liters of Proman and 1,5 liters of Challenge per hectare on the plot.

milling potatoes
The potato plot in Escharen (North Brabant) is growing properly. It is expected that the plot will be above the surface in approximately 3 or 4 days. Weather permitting, most parcels of the Boerenbusiness Crop tour to be milled at the end of the week. In most plots, extra moisture will have to be introduced into the soil.

When milling has to be done in the next 14 days, the plot in Dronten will first be irrigated. This is to get more moisture in the backs.

Germination on the Escharen plot is already at an advanced stage.
