The first potato plots of the Gewastour are breaking through. In addition, the first leaves are also on top. The mood on the plots is generally dry, although there is still sufficient moisture at the bottom of the ridge on a number of plots.
The Innovators are breaking through on the potato plots in Scharendijke (Zeeland) and Escharen (North Brabant). The potato plants on the plot in Escharen are at a further stage, despite the fact that the plot in Scharendijke was planted 4 days earlier.
The first leaves have already formed on the plot in Escharen. This small lead is due to the fact that sandy soil usually warms up faster than clay soil. For further development, higher temperatures are expected, with regular showers.
Milling is not easy due to drought
On the plot in Middenmeer (North Holland), the ridges were milled on Friday 3 May, which is more than 2 weeks after planting. It was not easy to form a solid back. This is because only 4 millimeters of rain fell on the plot from the end of April, while on average over the other plots 12 millimeters of rain fell.
The ridges were milled on Monday 7 May on the Crop Tour plot in Spijk (Groningen), which is 11 days after planting. About 4 days earlier, the plot was fertilized with 800 liters of Nts per hectare.
Work postponed due to dry weather
Rain showers are desirable on all potato plots, despite the fact that there is still moisture in the back on a number of plots. The plot in Dronten (Flevoland) cannot yet be milled because of the drought. Fertilizer has now been applied, but it will not be available until rain falls or is irrigated.
On the plot in Hank (North Brabant), fertilizer was applied in the back, making it immediately available for the sprouts. Who can take this.
