Fleas have been found in the south of the country. In some cases this already causes quite a few problems.
Fleas are small beetles of 1,5 to 2 millimeters in size. The beetle is glossy black, sometimes with a slight green or blue sheen. The insects are mainly found on the sandy and valley soils. They damage the germ leaves and first true leaves and thus form a gateway for fungi.
In addition, flea bees make the plant more susceptible to damage from herbicide spraying. They can also affect the roots of the plant, which means that the seedlings die.
Impact on yield
The flea beetles can therefore have serious consequences for the yield. The dry weather expected for the coming period may further increase the infection pressure. That's why we would like you advise you keep a close eye on your plot.
If you notice fleas, please contact your crop protection specialist as soon as possible.
