Crop tour hail damage

Hail damage recovery is slow

31 May 2019 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

On the onion plot in Zeewolde (Flevoland), which participates in the Boerenbusiness Crop tour, a significant fall fell at the beginning of May hailstorm† The hail caused considerable damage to the crop, and it is now clear that the recovery is progressing slowly.

Initially it was expected that the onions on this plot could recover relatively quickly, but it can now be said that this will take considerably longer. It has now been more than 25 days since this hailstorm fell and we can now speak of a gradual growth.

The onion grower indicates that he has not been able to carry out any spraying since the hailstorm. Nevertheless, there are expectations that the crop will recover. "They are finally starting to do something again," says the grower.
