In the photo report Last week it was already clear that there was a lot of activity in the potato plots of the Crop Tour. This will also continue in the first days of week 23. For example, phytophthora is being controlled on several plots. The growers do expect precipitation, which means they will have to continue for a while.
The crop is currently in good condition on the plot in Middenmeer (North Holland). Despite the drought, the soil here still retains enough moisture. Non-inversion tillage has been applied to the potato plot, which results in good moisture management.
Combating phytophthora
Phytophthora was controlled on the Crop tour plot in Scharendijke (Zeeland) in recent days with 2 kilos of Video and a stitcher. This adhesive has been added because precipitation is expected after spraying. The adhesive must ensure that the weather has less influence on the operation and washing away of the crop protection product.
Around the start of tuber formation, approximately 25 millimeters of precipitation fell, which was very good for the crop. However, a clear count cannot yet be made, because a number of tubers are still too small to count properly.
Rapid developments
The potato plot in Spijk (Gelderland) was planted last of all the Crop Tour plots, but developments on this plot are moving very quickly. 4 kilos of patent potassium were spread on the plot on Tuesday, June 250. Titus has also been sprayed against herik and chervil and Revus against phytophthora.
It was dry during the build-up of the ridge, after which a heavy rain shower fell on Monday 3 June. As a result, the ridges are somewhat washed off. Furthermore, the crop on the plot is nice and even.
duality
The potato plot in Fijnaart (North Brabant) shows slight bisexuality. Some of the plants are already closed in the row, while another part still needs to emerge. It is remarkable that these 'offspring' have more stems: 4 to 5 stems.
Moisture content replenished
A heavy shower fell on the plot in Goor (Overijssel) last week. The moisture content in the soil has been replenished as a result. Phytophthora is also combated on this plot with the pesticide Revus. Weed control is done with Titus.
