The Colorado beetles and lice are back

June 16, 2019

The Colorado potato beetles and lice have already been observed in several plots. Check your plots and use Calypso or Bariard where necessary.

Now that the temperatures have developed (after a cold month of May), the development of the (pest) insects continues. Colorado potato beetles come to the plots from multiple sources (such as storage plants). At the moment the first copies can be seen. Depending on weather conditions, Colorado potato beetles can develop quickly. Watch for beetles in the crop, the deposition of eggs (underside of the leaf) and the larvae.

Loud pressure already high
The pressure from lice is also high at the moment. In seed potatoes, the importance of good aphid control has increased even more, due to the disappearance of various neonicotinoids. Since the pressure is high, it is also important to continue to check plots with ware and starch potatoes.

Effective Insecticides
Calypso and Bariard are effective against Colorado potato beetles (in the adult stage as well as the egg and laver stage). In addition, these agents are also effective against all aphid species. These agents are also safe for beneficial insects and can therefore be used in flowering crops. They may also be used in groundwater protection areas.
