The difference 2018 and 2019 is slowly becoming visible

Tuberculosis is in full swing. Most parcels of the Boerenbusiness Crops are in bloom or will bloom at the end of the week. Compared to last year, the potato plots are leading the way in tuber setting.

On the potato plot in Middenmeer (North Holland) things seem to be going smoothly at the moment. The growth is clearly good, because in 6 days the plot is closed in the row. Tuber setting is almost the same as last year. In contrast, on the potato plot in Fijnaart (North Brabant) it is clear that the tuber setting developed further than in 2018. 

The plants are now starting to bloom on the Gewastour plot in Hank (North Brabant). However, the plot is still only 80% to 90% closed. A possible explanation for this is that enormous amounts of precipitation have fallen since 1 June. By way of comparison: in Scharendijke it already rained at the end of May, so that the crop there was closed 1 week before flowering.

High potential in Zeeland
The grower of the Crop Tour plot in Scharendijke (Zeeland) says that the plot has a lot of potential, compared to last year. In this week last year, there was not yet a closed plot. At that time, there was also no talk of tuberculosis.

Manganese and magnesium
Flowering is expected next week on the Crop Tour plot in Ens (Flevoland). The lot is now closed. In order to get stronger plants, manganese magnesium nitrate will soon be added. For the same reason, magnesium is administered on the plot in Spijk (Groningen). CAN will also be administered on this plot. 

Disease pressure phytophthora
The grower of the potato plot in Dronten (Flevoland) will remain vigilant in the coming days. Due to the high temperatures and humidity, the disease pressure of Phytophthora rises considerably. In a number of regions Phytophthora has been found. The plot in Dronten is also growing well. "A lot of growth has been visible in 1 week", says the grower.
