Yesterday (1 July) it rained in several places in the Netherlands. Most precipitation fell in Heijen in North Brabant, about 18,3 millimeters, according to data from Sencrop. However, there are also plots where nothing has fallen, where the growers can irrigate plants.

Reel is turned off
The reel was turned off at the plot in Heijen on Wednesday. The grower planned to irrigate 25 millimeters on the plot, but according to the grower too much fell at the same time. The water quickly drained through the growth cracks and only remained in the spray tracks.
"Tuesday it took 3 hours to pass 1 millimeter, the next day I have to stop the reel because there is too much precipitation", the grower says Boerenbusiness know.
Waiting for windless weather
The grower in Kimswerd is waiting for windless weather. Last week about 11 millimeters fell. Not enough according to the grower. "I would like to start watering. However, we always have to wait for windless weather. The onions have not started to bulb yet, so I want to provide them with moisture before they start to bulb."
Onions grow well
On the plot in Kortgene, the onions cannot be irrigated. 'Ten days ago the onions had 10 millimeters of precipitation and this week they had 35 millimeters. As a result, they are growing nicely," says the grower from Kortgene.
