"We were treated to regular, tender showers. This is good for the potatoes and luckily not too much came at the same time," says the grower from Dronten. His plot has received the most precipitation over the past 32,3 days at 7 millimeters. The grower has also noticed that the difference is large in local rainfall. "As the crow flies, 9 kilometers away, it has rained about 100 mm in the past 7 days."
Perfect showers
The grower in Middenmeer is happy with the precipitation of the past week. "My potatoes are wearing out at the moment. I'm not going to do my best to keep them green either, because it's good that way. It's been perfect showers. Due to the dry spring, the roots have developed well and the weather is currently growing. ."
Reels are on
Irrigation is currently taking place in Appelscha and Someren. In Appelscha, 25 millimeters of water is given because the 4,8 millimeters of precipitation is too little for the crop. The potatoes are still completely green and the grower is counting on a top yield. "During the first trial harvest, it emerged that there is about 45 tons per hectare. Now we are 3 weeks further and the plot is still very green. The potatoes continue to grow."
In Someren, 30 millimeters is rained. The plot received the least rainfall of all crop tour plots. The potatoes are still in good shape, with dark colored foliage. The rainfall around Someren does not have an erratic character. There are no major differences between plots.
