A large part of the onion growers of the Boerenbusiness Crop tour has already planned the harvesting. For example, the onions on the plot in Heijen will be harvested this week and the grower in Kortgene hopes to be able to start next week. The last disease sprays have now been carried out in Kimswerd.
On the plot in Heijen (Limburg) the onions will be harvested this week. "I'm curious about the results, but don't expect it to be easy. I think we're pretty full with 50 tons," the grower said when asked. In Kortgene (Zeeland) the harvesting of the onions is now also on the schedule. "Most of the field has now died and I hope that the last onions will ripen soon." The grower hopes to start harvesting next week. This is harvested earlier than last year, because then the onions left the country in week 39.
In Ysselsteyn (Limburg) the onions have already been harvested. "I am satisfied with the results, although we still have to wait for specific weights and other data. I myself expect a yield between a high 50 tons and a low 60 tons. We had little or no tare. onions."
Latest disease sprays
On the plot in Kimswerd (Friesland), lifting the onions is not yet on the agenda. MH was sprayed last week and the last disease sprays were also carried out at the end of last week. "The onions are growing and the plot is still beautifully green. They have already been ironed, but they are still too green to be harvested. That's why I'm leaving them for a while," explains the grower. Harvesting is therefore later than last year. In that year the onions were harvested in week 37.
In Wezup (Drenthe) the situation is almost the same as in Kimswerd. The onion field is still green at that grower too. "There are now some spots that are diminishing, but the largest part of the onion plot is still in good shape. That's why I'm leaving it for a while. I must say that it is a bit dirty from weeds here and there. "
Again a lot of rain
From the data from the weather poles of sencrop (which are placed on every plot of the Gewastour) it appears that the plots also had a lot of precipitation last week. In addition, the plot in Kimswerd shows the highest precipitation amount: 53,3 millimetres. 38,4 millimeters fell on the onion plot in Wezup. "We can clean up the reels, there is more than enough water." It did not cause any inconvenience, however. "Our plot is on sandy soil, so in general we get on well."
Just over 23 millimeters of rainfall has fallen on the onion plot in Kortgene over the past week, but according to the grower this will not be of much use to the onions. "It was just as good for the soil and potatoes."
