The end is in sight for the onion plots of the Gewastour van Boerenbusiness. For example, the onions on the plot in Wezup are on the land, the onions from the plot in Kortgene were stored at the end of last week and the yield from the plot in Heijen is now known.
The proceeds of the crop tour plot heijen (Limburg) came to 45 tons per hectare. "It was quite a setback for me. I had expected to get almost 50 tons per hectare," the grower explains. The quality, on the other hand, was very good to excellent. "The tare percentage is at a good level. Our onions simply gave up too early in the summer."
Onions are on the land
The onions were harvested on the plot in Wezup (Drenthe) last week. "We wanted to load our onions before the rain, but that won't work anymore. When the weather is sunny and dry for a few days, they will immediately leave the field," says the grower. The hope is that the proceeds will be somewhat less than that. "The quality looks good. Now it is hoped that a good number of tons will be removed from the land."
The harvesting has also been completed on the plot in Kimswerd (Friesland). "Our onions are now in the field and we loaded them on September 22. The onions look good in terms of quality and we have now been able to drive them in under good conditions." Although it is not a top year for the onion grower, he is satisfied with the results.
Shed in Kortgene
The onions in Kortgene (Zeeland) were delivered at the end of last week shed, after they have been on land for 1 week. "Thanks to the beautiful weather last week, we were able to store the onions under wonderful conditions. They look good and are all inside now. I am satisfied," says the grower.
