Most onions from the plots that participated in the Boerenbusiness Crop tour are now in the shed. This provides more insight into the actual yields and tare percentages. Only on the plot in Wezup, the onions have not all been removed from the field yet.
In Kortgene (Zeeland), the onions were all stored last week. "Because all onions were brought in under nice, dry conditions, they don't have to dry extremely much anymore," the grower says. The yield on this plot is around 45 tons per hectare, with a tare percentage around 4%. Also in heijen (Limburg) the yield is 45 tons, although the tare percentage is higher there: 7,2%.
The onions have also all been brought in in Tollebeek (Flevoland). The net yield here is between 60 and 65 tons per hectare. "I don't have an exact tare percentage, but it looks like a nice batch. We've seen little or no fusarium and the size is nice. I'm satisfied." In Kimswerd (Friesland) the yield is between 50 and 60 tons.
Wezup hopes to load this week
Only on the plot in Wezup (Drenthe) the onions have not yet all been driven into the shed. "We brought in the red onions last week, but the yellow onions from the Crop Tour plot are still on the land. The goal is to sand them in this week, but then the weather should be fine. necessary."
