The potato plots of the Boerenbusiness Crops that still have to be cleared are still not. The rain of the past few days has thrown a lot of spanner in the works, so we now have to wait for drier weather.
Most potato plots of the Crop Tour were last week have already been harvested, but the growers who had planned the harvesting this week have had to adjust these plans. For example, the potatoes on the plots in Appelscha (Friesland), Hank (North Brabant) and Fijnaart (North Brabant) are still in the ground. Although the weather appears to be slightly more positive next week, growers have become wary. 'First see and then believe' seems to have become the motto.
Yield in Dronten above trial harvesting
The Crop Tour plot in Dronten (Flevoland), on the other hand, was cleared just before precipitation. An initial estimate of the yield, based on the cell content and content of the tipper, certainly comes out at 62 tons. "We achieved 62,9 tons during the trial harvest and we really can't fall below that. We might even end up with a plus," says the grower.
Incidentally, the other plots of the potato grower in Dronten cannot be harvested. "We started on Monday, but everything has come to a standstill here too. If I look around me in the Flevopolder, a lot still needs to be done." In the south of the country, too, work is well behind schedule. The grower in Fijnaart reports that at least 95% still needs to be harvested in his area.
