Last month's changeable weather showed how big the weather differences can be in a small radius and in a short time frame. The erratic weather affects the development of diseases and pests in all open crops. To optimally protect crops, accurate weather data and the correct translation with the relevant weather indicators are important.
The growing number of rules regarding the use of plant protection products requires increasingly advanced cultivation management. Users can easily link their Sencrop weather stations to various advice systems, including CropVision Gewis from AgroVision. The grower thus receives spraying advice that is geared to the accurately measured weather data of his plots.
Determine optimal spray moment
"CropVision Gewis analyzes the weather data from the weather stations and uses it to calculate the optimal moment for spraying. The program looks at the active ingredient and the formulation of the product. The optimal spraying moment is calculated on the basis of this," says Kees Vogelaar, specialist advice systems. at AgroVision during the Webinar 'Conscious spraying with own weather data'.
Lower dosage of crop protection
The CropVision Gewis module translates ultra-local weather data into a practical graph. The program makes a new calculation every hour and displays it in the form of a green or red bar. A green bar indicates a suitable moment of application, a red bar indicates that crop treatment with this particular agent is not recommended. In addition, the program gives advice on possible dosage reductions when possible, without negatively affecting effectiveness.
AgroVision also helps growers with disease advice modules to respond to the shift in disease variants. In recent years, a clear shift in variants has been observed in the potato disease Phytophthora. CropVision ProPhy has been adapted to this development.
Weather indicators per crop
Each crop has specific weather indicators for each growth phase that are crucial for crop management. Sencrop has brought these together per crop in clear crop calendars. Here you can download the calendars for free.
