After a long period of drought, it rained again last Wednesday. Large differences in precipitation that rose to 63 millimeters in North Holland. Of course, all growers who participate in the Boerenbusiness Dutch Crop tour about the precipitation, although they indicate that much more should fall.
The differences in precipitation were large and not everyone has water in the rain gauge. While some potato growers of the Gewastour had to make do with 2 millimeters, potato grower Kees Trouw in Hellevoetsluis (South Holland) had 32 millimeters on his Gewastour plot. The coastal areas seem to have had the most precipitation, but Amsterdam to Amersfoort was also well affected. Precipitation also varied greatly in the same region. For example, the millimeters were far apart within a radius of a few kilometers. This was the case in Dronten (Flevoland).
Kees Trouw has had 32 millimeters and can't imagine it better. In the night of 16 to 17 August he already got 20 and on 17 August another 12 was added. He has already cleared his early variety Colomba and has to wait until his next potato varieties are ready. In his area, he sees the potato harvester driving onto the land of growers. "At the moment they are ideal for harvesting. The 32 millimeters have sunk down in no time and you are no longer bothered by false soil". His Innovator plot is still partially green and he hopes for an additional growth of 15%.
