Great results were achieved again last season with the use of Serenade in the cultivation of potatoes, as a fur treatment. A confirmation of previous years with a clearly improved peel quality. Partly due to the excellent control results on silver scab, black speckle and rhizoctonia.
Eleven varieties were planted in four repetitions on a plot in Swifterbant in spring 2023. The use of Serenade has been compared with potatoes that have not had any fur or tuber treatment. The yields of all varieties were determined last autumn and the tuber quality was examined after storage. In terms of yield, there was a 4% increase in yield compared to untreated. After storage, the potatoes were assessed for peel quality, resulting in control results shown in graph 1.
A nice reduction of over 60% for silver scab and black speckle and a 34% reduction in rhizoctonia when Serenade is applied in the fur during planting.
Conclusions from six-year (2018-2023) research at a glance
The intensive and large-scale research of Serenade applied in potato cultivation has resulted in a very robust data set from which the following conclusions can be drawn:
