Multi-year research shows that the use of crop protection products can be significantly reduced by implementing Integrated Crop Management (ICM). However, success depends heavily on choices made at the plot level.
From one progress report of the Plant Health Action Plan it appears that a quarter of Dutch arable farmers now apply ICM in practice.
What is ICM?
ICM represents an integrated approach that combines various cultivation measures into a robust system less dependent on chemical interventions. This includes soil health, crop rotation, monitoring, and precision agriculture.

Exchange between practice and research
On Thursday, September 11, WUR Field Crops is organizing an ICM field day at its field location in Vredepeel. This day will focus on knowledge sharing between researchers and growers. Special attention will be paid to the application of ICM on sandy soils, where the challenges are often greater.
Strengthen your own strategy
ICM doesn't have a one-size-fits-all approach: every company is unique. During the field day, we'll discuss what works under which conditions and the challenges growers face in practice. The meeting offers ample opportunity to share experiences and strengthen your own cultivation strategy.
