While the potato harvest is really in its final stages this time, there were still a few potato harvesters active last week. Boerenbusiness Dutch Crop tour We were in the southwest of the country, where Gewastour Onion participant Jacky Dieleman from Philippine in Zeeland was helping out with the last potato harvesting work in his neighborhood.

It's nothing new that conditions this year, both during growth and harvest, varied widely across the Netherlands. This meant that not every plot growers had hoped to harvest earlier could be harvested. This was also evident in Philippine, in the province of Zeeland. There, potatoes were still being harvested on relatively heavy soil in early November, which is undesirable on such soil so late in the season. However, conditions didn't allow for earlier harvesting.
