Crop tour Week 13

Arable farmers go wild on the plots

3 April 2021 - Jesse Torringa

Spring had erupted in the Netherlands last week. The arable farmers who participate in the Crop Tour also went wild. Under these ideal conditions, a lot of work was done on the plots. An overview with photos from last week.

After a cold and wet period in March, it was a pleasure for all of the Netherlands last week. The growers were busy before the Easter weekend with fertilising, sowing and potato planting. This is reflected in the Gewastour, where almost every onion field has been sown since last week (week 12). Also in the north of the Netherlands, where onion sowing is traditionally a little later, the tractors are driving their rounds on the plot at full speed.

Potato growers have not been sitting still in the past week either. The early varieties have been planted and the land is being prepared for the coming weeks. Despite the expected precipitation, potato plants are on the schedule.
