Dutch Crop tour Week 19

Onion field Aeres Farms sown last

4 May 2020 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

King's Day 2020, where students normally attend festivals or other festivities, students from Aeres Hogeschool Dronten sow the onions this year. Due to the dry conditions, the plot at Aeres Farms was sown as the last plot of the crop tour.

Students from Aeres Hogeschool Dronten worked the ground once, then irrigated it and worked it again with a power harrow. Many clods remained on the ground and the wind did not rain evenly. Despite the circumstances that were not quite optimal this spring, the students and teachers are satisfied with the results so far.

Piet Haak (teacher arable farming) and Alrick de Buck (student horticulture and arable farming) explain which activities have taken place on the plot and what the added value of the crop tour is for them.
