Influence on global market

Brazil forces Thailand to discharge sugar subsidy

21 February 2017 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 6 comments

At the end of 2017, the Thai government will stop subsidizing sugar production and controlling consumer sugar prices. This was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture on Tuesday.

The release of the subsidies is happening under pressure from the Brazilians who filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization last March. Brazil argues that Thai subsidies for sugar producers have pushed down the price of sugar on the world market.

Thai subsidy pulls world sugar price down

From now on, Thailand will keep the price of sugar in line with the world market. Thailand is the second largest sugar producer in the world after Brazil. Brazil has indicated that it agrees with Thailand's new policy. "It's an acceptable solution."

How do those Brazilians get it into their heads to demand that now that they are introducing such a tax on our chips. Brazil first shall we say

I thought the Brazilians only like to use double standards for certain parts of the feminine beauty.

Brazil therefore hopes for a higher world market price for sugar, which is also good for us.
the EU should also enforce more on sugar subsidies that various countries give to their sugar industry while this is not allowed.

in europe until last season a lot of cane sugar was mixed into the regular sugar.
As of January 1, 2017, the EU has stopped doing so. there is a good chance that Brazil will now take back the EU with their import duties on French fries.

There are 3 things important when it comes to food.
In addition to food safety and security, food sovereignty is also an important issue.
When it comes down to it, few want to be dependent on someone else's willingness to export.

that cane sugar did not come from Brazil, but from a mole (less developed country). So it has nothing to do with each other.

Thailand is certainly not a mole country
