The German sugar producer Pfeifer & Langen is investing 26 million euros in two new silo towers at its location in Appeldorn (Germany). This investment comes after the news that the group has taken over six sugar factories from the Ukrainian T-Zukor.
With the investment in Appeldorn, the group believes it can better participate in the competitive battle that they expect from October 2017, with the end of the quota. However, increasing the storage capacity is also necessary, because Pfeifer & Langen claims to have found many new beet growers in the west of Münsterland. The beet campaign is therefore being expanded.
The purchase of the six sugar factories in Ukraine from the bankrupt T-Zukor was completed at the beginning of this year. Pfeifer & Langen is the third German sugar group and has five sugar factories in Germany and several factories in Poland and Romania.
