With the growth point being reached, Cosun issued its first revenue forecast on Thursday 15 June. This amounts to an average of 14,5 tons of sugar per hectare.
That is an above average result. Last year, the cooperative forecasted the sugar yield at 13,7 tons. However, it was not yet clear how many hectares had suffered serious water damage. The growing point date signifies the start of sugar production. This comes 4 days earlier than the long-term average. That is a result of the beautiful weather.
Volume increases quickly
There is an average of 4 grams of sugar in a beet, about 350 kilos of sugar per hectare. The volume of the carrot increases rapidly from now on. With an average growing season, the growth model expects a yield of approximately 85 tons of beets and 14,5 tons of sugar. In deviating weather, this will be lower or higher.
