Another lower profit for CZAV

5 January 2018 - Wouter Baan - 12 comments

Farmers' cooperative CZAV recorded a profit of €2016 million in the past financial year (2017/3,6). This is a decrease of €0,9 million compared to the previous year. Turnover also fell as a result of lower grain prices.

The turnover for the past financial year amounted to €387 million. This is €5 million (-1,3%) less than the year before. In that year turnover also fell by more than 10%. For the second year in a row, CZAV's turnover is now below €400 million. Despite the lesser figures, CZAV says it is satisfied.

In addition to the lower grain prices, low disease pressure this spring also resulted in declining turnover figures. As a result, fewer crop protection products were sold.

Lower supplementary payment
The profit over the past year is mainly due to participations in Agrimarkt and AgriSneltank. The growers of CZAV can jointly count on a supplementary payment of €1,3 million. This is less than in the previous financial year, when the cooperative was still €1,75 paid to its members.

expiring case; they had the best time.

Still fine. Half of the profit is usually skimmed off to strengthen the EV. So the less profit the better the prices have been put away sharply in advance, estimated. In my opinion, an arable farming cooperative with a fixed turnover does not sympathize with the market at all, the more volatile the turnover, the more the cooperative is able to deliver.

Buying the market and buildings in the Achterhoek is hard at the expense of our own growers, read supplementary payment

Market share has grown considerably in recent years, reducing the need to be competitive. Count on even less money for your grain and rising bills for supplies.

After the merger with Cebeco Southwest, things have slowed down. All that remains is to shrink the workforce or be taken over by agrifirm.

Great business that CZAV, usually pay more for the grain than fellow collectors.
Acquisitions and reorganisations also cost money, but I do hope that the line will go up again!!

@pretty rude
The listing of Goes is the call price of CZAV. In my opinion, this bid price for grain from our own storage has been too low for years.
Good grain from our own storage yields more at the feed factories than this quotation would suggest.

yes Claas, that is possible but in the Pool they pay well and I am just satisfied with that.

You can buy anything, but customers are not for sale.

It seems as if expanding in the rest of the Netherlands with Zeeuws money has become a goal in itself. Before you know it, you have an empty remote building and the customers have left. Customers won't let themselves be bought here I have to agree with @Tholenaer

Unfortunately, CZAV is not active in the north, a real arable cooperative. And not a company where compound feed predominates.

If you transfer to heijboer bv in Noordoostpolder in terms of gbm and ms. Are you also a member of CZAV?

Klaas, I understood that the CZAV also has an interest in CAV Ditchdorp and a company in the field of peat colonies.
