A shift will take place in the top 3 of the largest grain exporters in the world. Russia is expected to export more grain this season, pushing the country to second place.
Expectations for grain exports from Russia have been adjusted. Previous expectations suggested that the country would export 43,9 million tons. However, this expectation has been adjusted upwards by 1,7 million tons.
Production increases
The revenues for this season were previously high. A total of 134,2 million tons of grain was produced, 11,2% more than last year. Compared to the average yield (2012 to 2016), 35,3% more was produced. This is evident from figures from the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
Ukraine overtaken
Russia is thus overtaking Ukraine. Reports are coming from this country that export figures are lower than expected. This would result in 1,5 million tons less being exported. Ukraine's export expectations have therefore been adjusted downwards, bringing the country to 41 million tons. Russia will therefore export 4,6 million tons more.
The United States is at the top. This season, 80,3 million tons will probably be exported there. Of this, 47,7 million tons will be corn.
