The grain market shows a mixed picture worldwide. In addition, declines are often visible in wheat prices in the United States (US), while the rest of the world is fairly stable.
Precipitation has fallen in the wheat regions of the US, causing the conditions have improved slightly. However, things are not rosy yet, because there has been much less precipitation than last season. In Europe, the low temperatures have largely disappeared, except for Russia, where freezing temperatures persist in the wheat regions.
Many arable farmers in Ukraine (due to frost and low temperatures) will, according to analysts, less wheat/ sow barley and choose maize. Frost also affects sowing in Romania, Poland and Germany, where the sowing of spring grains is difficult to get started.

Barley prices slightly higher
Barley is trading slightly higher on international markets. This has to do with the persistent demand. Exports are also continuing well; For example, Saudi Arabia bought more than 1 million tons of feed barley from the European Union (France and Germany), the Black Sea region and Argentina. The price for this lot came to $249,23 per ton (+2,4% compared to the purchase 5 weeks earlier).
Ukraine exported around 8 million tons of barley in the first 4 months of the grain season (670.000 tons less than last season). The country mainly exported to Saudi Arabia, China, the European Union, Libya and Turkey.
Argentina's corn harvest reduced
The dry conditions in Argentina have caused the corn harvest has been reduced again in the country. It is expected that 32 million tons (-2 million tons) will be harvested this season, compared to 39 million tons last year.
