Agrifirm grain pool reflects flat market

June 1, 2018 - Anne Jan Doorn - 2 comments

Agrifirm pays the participants of its grain pool €155,90 per tonne for baking wheat. Brewing barley is a positive exception to the otherwise flat grain market. This is apparent now that the grain pool has been completed.

De pool price of €155,90 per tonne of baking wheat includes a baking premium of €3 (on top of the feed wheat price). The pool price for the chain project with Koopmans is €163,90 per tonne, including a quality premium. The storage pool scored best; including a storage fee, the baking wheat in that pool yielded €170,50 per tonne.

Agrifirm explains the flat prices by a global oversupply of wheat† The disappointing export from Europe was also disadvantageous. The storage of the wheat has therefore yielded relatively little result, compared to selling directly in the harvest.

Brewing barley exception
Brewing barley is a positive exception to the otherwise flat grain market. The demand for the product is good. The pool price of summer brewing barley is €175 per tonne. That is €31 per tonne more than the price of feed barley. The winter brewing barley also scored higher than the price for baking wheat, amounting to €156 per tonne. In the storage pool, malting barley even yielded €189,50 per tonne.

The prices quoted are without an advance payment for the growers participating in the basic pool. They receive an extra premium of €3,10 per tonne. The members of Agrifirm also receive a member benefit; per tonne they receive an extra €2,25.

the farmers do not get this price. it all seems nice. but in any case, drying costs, treatment costs and intake costs are deducted from that. so only subtract 10 to 0 euros. then you are better at the actual price. but that will be no different with other buyers.

There are customers who do not have these kinds of costs and deductions at all. Normal tipper weight is weight or there must be excessive dirt in it. A matter of an hour of taking off everything and calling around!
