Last year AgruniekRijnvallei managed to achieve the highest pool price for feed wheat. The company has now completed the wheat pool for the 2017 harvest. The result is several euros below last year. The quality was noticeably better.
The net payment price in the long wheat pool for feed wheat amounts to €153 per tonne, delivered to the location in Doetinchem or Wageningen (Gelderland). AR charges €25 in weighing costs per freight. These costs vary per company and how many loads are delivered. Those who store their wheat themselves receive a compensation of €0,20 per tonne per week. For the 2017 harvest, there was no pool for feed barley and triticale.
Higher hectoliter weight
This price applies to normal quality surcharges and delivery at 14% moisture. AR applies a discount above a moisture percentage of 15%. "The average hectoliter weight was 72 to 76," says general manager Henny Vermeulen. "Anyone who scores lower or higher will receive a plus or minus of €1 per 2 points. The maximum plus or minus is €2 per tonne."
The hectoliter weights were considerably higher last year compared to the 2016 harvest. They did not exceed 70 then, which also caused the yield to be disappointing. This was a maximum of 8 tons per hectare. According to Vermeulen, the 2017 harvest brought 'normal' yields of good quality.
Fixed sales system
Last year turned AR sets a price of €155 per tonne. That was €2015 per tonne for the 151 harvest. AR uses a fixed sales system: 2% of the volume is sold every 5 weeks. This takes place over a period of 40 weeks (starting at the end of August). Almost all wheat is supplied to the cooperative's own feed company. Vermeulen is free to sell wheat to another party. However, due to the advantage in transport costs, this almost never happens.
For the collection of the 2017 harvest, AR started collecting grain on location, as an experiment. "At the customer's request, we look at the most favorable form for his or her situation," says Vermeulen. "We expect a slight increase in supply for 2018, mainly due to new relationships. Our arable farming team has now been stable for a number of years, which means they are bringing in new customers."
