The wheat harvest continues at a steady pace and about half has now been brought in. The wheat harvest will be completed on most grain parcels by the end of next week (except for spring wheat).
It means the wheat harvest 2 weeks to 1 month earlier than in other years. In general, the harvest is going smoothly, thanks to the dry weather conditions. Yields seem to be variable so far.
Agrifirm reports that the yields of winter wheat (on clay soil) occasionally reach 10 tons per hectare. However, on average the cooperative estimates the yields around 9 tons per hectare. A slightly lower yield is expected than last year.

Above average hectolitre weights
The wheat often turns out to be above average in weight, with hectolitre weights exceeding 80 kilos per 76 liters in 100% of the cases. In the southwest of the country, approximately 60% of the harvest has been harvested, while the entire harvest in Limburg has already been harvested. In the north of the Netherlands, the harvest started a little later, which means that about 10 to 20% has been harvested at the moment.
During the harvest, there was talk of Italian and international brands in the grain stubble. This is mainly because the grain is very dry. Supplier Van Iperen reports that moisture percentages of 11% occur. An image that is increasingly seen is that compost is spread after the wheat harvest.
