The EU could change from a net exporter of grain to a net importer in a few years. Coceral's criticism is mainly aimed at the Farm to Fork strategy. The European Commission advocates, among other things, an expansion of the organic agricultural area from the current 8% to 25% and a 50% reduction in the use of crop protection products. These objectives have already attracted considerable criticism from the agricultural sector.

Due to the greening measures, wheat production in the EU will amount to approximately 2030 million tons in 109, according to Coceral. For comparison, this year's harvest is estimated at 128 million tons. The EU is also becoming even more dependent on foreign parties for the need for rapeseed. In 2030, rapeseed imports must potentially be increased to 10 million tons in 2030. That is approximately 6 million tons this year according to Coceral.

There is a risk that the agricultural markets will be seriously disrupted by the Farm to Fork strategy, Coceral believes. Moreover, EU policy mainly shifts environmental effects to other parts of the world. According to Coceral, the impact of the Commission's green ambitions must be developed in a broader and more detailed manner.
