The beet crop is doing well. The average sowing date at Cosun was March 26 this year. This is a month earlier than the past two years and also the earliest since 2012. The so-called growth point date, when the crop closes, is about two weeks earlier than in 2024.

With the knowledge we have now, Cosun is counting on a sugar yield of 13,5 tonnes per hectare. This means that sugar production will be higher than last year, when the harvest was disappointing due to a wet growing season. According to Cosun, the higher production is necessary to replenish stocks. Nevertheless, Cosun did reduce the allocation by 10% due to the lower sugar prices and market situation.

Press pulp
Due to the favourable growth conditions for sugar beets, more press pulp is also expected. Cosun subsidiary Duynie has therefore extended the pre-sale until Friday 27 June. The price of €2,35 per percent dry matter has remained the same as the first pre-sale round which ran until the end of May.
