While wheat yields in 2024 were at their lowest level in 25 years, they are back to their previous level this year, according to the CBS harvest estimate. In 2025, conditions for both sowing and growing were significantly more favorable than a year earlier.
The wheat area increased by 16,7% to 112.300 hectares. The crop developed better, bringing the yield back to a level comparable to previous years. Approximately 1,15 million tons of wheat are expected to be harvested in 2025, with an average yield of 10,2 tons per hectare. This is almost 70% more than in 2024 and a slight increase of 3% compared to 2023. The majority of the harvest, approximately 92%, consists of winter wheat.
Higher hectare yield of sugar beets
This year, 5,9% fewer sugar beets were sown than the previous year. The total sugar beet yield is expected to be 7,2 million tons. This is a significant increase compared to 2024, when the yield was 7,5% lower. This year's sugar beet yield will be comparable in volume to 2023. The average yield per hectare will be approximately 90 tons.
