The soil map of the Netherlands will be made available to everyone in July. By making this data public, everyone can see in detail how the soil is structured.
The soil map offers a lot of information about the soil. This can be used for targeted soil improvement or when selecting crops on the soil concerned. These soil data are also useful for all kinds of applications, such as (precision) agriculture, water management, spatial planning and landscape architecture.
Your details
The data in the soil map has been made available by Wageningen. The samples are drilled to a depth of 1,5 meters. Among other things, the acidity, the lime content and the organic matter content are determined. 340.000 wells have been drilled throughout the Netherlands. By applying new techniques, such as satellite data, the quality of the map is continuously improved.
Available
Until now, these soil data were not freely available to the public. In July these dates will be available on www.pdok.nl† The exact date is not yet known.
