North Holland leases 1.800 hectares of land

16 May 2018 - Kimberly Bakker

The province of North Holland is going to lease 1.800 hectares of agricultural plots. The plots are ultimately intended for provincial purposes, but in the meantime the province is giving the land out on a temporary lease.

Registration is open from June 1 to June 30. The grounds will be issued with effect from November 1, 2018. On a interactive map, which will be available from May 22, late the province see which land will be leased this year.

Terms & conditions
The province does impose a number of conditions on the tenants. Land use must contribute to the realization of the provincial goals in the field of sustainable agriculture, nature and water. An example is that tenants have to lay out flowery herb strips along arable land.

In addition, part of the land is part of the Netherlands Nature Network (NNN) and/or is located in areas with a meadow bird target. Additional criteria with regard to land use apply here.
