Parliamentary questions about maintenance by RVB

29 May 2018 - Anne Jan Doorn

Helma Lodders and Jan Middendorp (VVD) ask questions to Minister Carola Schouten (Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality) and State Secretary Raymond Knops (Internal Affairs) about the Central Government Real Estate Agency (RVB). The MPs receive signals that the service does little or no maintenance on the buildings, and that there is poor communication towards the tenants.

"It is strange that the Central Government Real Estate Agency, as the owner of the agricultural buildings, has only carried out very brief maintenance since 2008," the officials said. MPs† In addition, major maintenance is often not done. The reason for this would be that there are insufficient resources available.

The MPs ask for an explanation from Schouten and Knops and also want to receive an overview of the agricultural buildings that are managed by the RVB. They wonder why the RVB does not sell these properties, and what the costs and benefits are of owning these properties.

Distinction in tenants
They also want an answer to the question whether it is true that a distinction is made between tenants who are allowed to buy the business premises from the RVB. A distinction would be made in the fact that tenants run 1 or more companies on a property. The MPs think that about this in a clear way communicated must be.

The RVB would also have announced that an inventory will be made with regard to what major maintenance must be carried out. There would also be a European tender for major maintenance. Lodders and Middendorp wonder whether these messages are correct.
