Brabant buys agricultural land for 30 million

6 February 2020 - Anne Jan Doorn - 16 comments

The province of Brabant is buying up agricultural land from farmers for €30 million. The land is then leased back to the farmers. The aim is to stimulate nature-inclusive entrepreneurship.

According to the province The sale of land helps farmers to switch to nature-inclusive business practices. Due to the amount that has become available, they can purchase additional land, so that the company can be made more extensive. The land that is leased by the province must then be used as species-rich grassland.

Market-based lease price
If companies expand by an average of 10 hectares, the available budget is sufficient to allow about 40 entrepreneurs to participate. The land is issued on a long lease (26 years). The leasehold will be in line with the market (€650 to €700 per hectare). That price is based on the basic price for nature lease (€300) and fertilizer placement space.

The province employs coaches who enter into discussions with entrepreneurs. Of the more than 100 farmers with whom we spoke, 15 entrepreneurs have started drawing up a business plan for nature-inclusive agriculture. This shows that there is a need for the land purchase and lease approach.

It is outrageous to impose production methods in this way.

Can a province invest in land?
sef 6 February 2020
invest,? Count down 70.000 and return 700.

See the article on "land price increase".

They even pay 75.000 ha.
Nice for those farmers in Brabant (and their bank), first they grow like crazy in an unprofitable sector and now they have lost their unsaleable toko dearly.

A little farmer with balls never sells to a government, municipality. Nature clubs, etc., etc.
Except for housing or industry, etc.

Nauseous tricks of the (semi) governments.

Ok Jaap, and then the arable farming and livestock and all sales within 20 kilometers. Dissolved.

Do you still want to get through the latest plans before vvd cda and forum in Brabant get to work?
ordinary farmer 6 February 2020
maybe it's better to invest 30 mil in affordable rental housing

Good plan, I would like to work on this and would like to lease. I'm just afraid of farmers in the neighborhood who will reproach me for ruining it for the sector because I do see benefit in circular agriculture... Such a shame how polarized among themselves...

I don't get it. The province buys land from the farmers and then leases it back to the farmers. Then it is written that the farmers can buy land with the money released for extensification. What land can they buy? The land sold to the province is leased. Where does the province suddenly get that land from? And also: Why would a farmer sell land and then buy back (other?) land and then extensify? It should be clear: this 30M mainly ends up in the business coaches (coffee drinkers) and project developers.

This is not allowed at all. This methodology is state aid. In agricultural companies, this may be a maximum of 20.000 euros in 3 years. For other companies 2 tons. With this arrangement you will quickly get over it.

If they mean 1 meter of beets, 1 meter of weeds, 1 meter of beets ........ with nature included, I can already tell you that will be nothing at all. no nature and no agriculture. That is the same as putting a person infected with coronavirus next to a healthy person in a hospital and assuming that the healthy person's resistance will heal the sick.
