Landlords must take into account the financial difficulties that tenants may face as a result of the current corona crisis. The Bond voor Landpaschers (BLHB) therefore calls on lessees to consult with lessees and to make an arrangement with them if necessary. This may involve postponement of payment or waiver of the lease price.
The BLHB announced this in a statement on Friday. The union notes that the economic consequences for the various agricultural sectors and companies are already significant due to the corona crisis. Especially for agricultural companies in, for example, arable farming and livestock farming. "The liquidity position immediately shows a deterioration and of course the profitability also decreases sharply. It is important for the individual company that various cost items are adjusted in the event of a sharp decline in revenue."
Postpone or cancel
For companies with a lot of lease, the lease price is an item that concerns a large share of all costs, explains the BLHB. However, the union has established that the tenant often knocks on the door of the landlord too late to reach an arrangement. "As BLHB, we think that customization is necessary for every tenant. The differences are too great to propose a single measure. Possible solutions are postponement or an arrangement for the payment of the rent, not implementing rent increases or even (partial) remission of the rent."
According to the union, the Central Government Real Estate Agency (RVB) and asr, two large landlords, have made preparations to come up with tailor-made solutions with tenants.
