Milk price Cono breaks through the limit of 38 euros

10 January 2017 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

Cono closes the year with a milk price above 38 euros. The last time such a milk price could be recorded was in September 2014. Thanks to the prices of November and December, the fourth quarter yields a price above 36 euros.

For December, Cono writes down a 3,20 euros per kg of fat. A plus of 0,10 euros. Due to the increase, the protein price will have the opportunity to increase to 7,15 euros per kg of protein. On top of that, there is a winter bonus of 3,25 euros per 100 kg of milk.

The pluses give the milk price the chance to reach 600.000 euros per 38,42 kg of milk with an annual supply of 100 kg of milk. A plus of 0,79 euros compared to a month earlier. Cono does not have a quantum surcharge, but with a higher annual supply the fixed costs do decrease, so that milk prices turn out slightly higher. September 2014 was the last time such a milk price could be recorded.

Thanks to the more than 38 euros for December, the price for the fourth quarter amounts to 36,63 euros per 100 kg of milk. Over the whole of 2016, the average milk price is EUR 30,63 per 100 kg of milk.

At Cono, dairy farmers can earn a premium of one euro for grazing. By participating in Caring Dairy, a bonus of 0,75 euros can also be obtained. However, 5 cents per 100 kg will be deducted from the milk price for the financing of ZuivelNL. In 2017, this amount will increase to EUR 0,23. From 2017, the premium for grazing will increase to 2 euros.
